Release notes

What's new.

Every update to Music Soundboard, newest first — the same notes that go out with the build on the App Store.

Version 2.3

Coming soon

Soundboard now needs iOS 17.

This one is mostly under the floorboards, but two things you may have felt are fixed for good.

  • Restored your iPad from a backup and found every pad saying UNPLAYABLE? Your sounds are found again automatically on the next launch.
  • A pad whose audio has genuinely gone missing now says NEEDS FILE instead of UNPLAYABLE, and there's a new Relink missing audio button in Settings for once you've put the files back.

Also new

  • Trimmed cues now stop exactly on their out point, instead of up to half a second late.
  • The timer, progress bar and meters keep moving while you scroll a board.

Fixed

  • Deleting a pad no longer leaves its audio file behind eating storage, and deleting a big board is much faster.
  • Re-importing a file you'd previously deleted no longer produced a pad that wouldn't play.
  • Your own audio in the Files app is never touched when pads are deleted.

Version 2.2

Getting your audio in is no longer the hard part.

  • Share to Soundboard from anywhere — Voice Memos, Mail, WhatsApp, Dropbox, Safari. Tap Share, pick Soundboard, done.
  • Your sounds now show up in the Files app, so you can drag a whole show across from a Mac in one go.
  • On iPad, drag files straight onto a board.

Also new

  • A demo board on first launch, so you can hear what Soundboard does in the first ten seconds — and delete it in one tap when you're ready to build your own.
  • Level meters on the transport and on every playing pad.
  • Ride one cue's level from the transport without opening its settings.
  • Search across every board to find a cue by name.
  • The transport collapses to give the grid more room, and remembers how you like it in each orientation.
  • Settings, including a way to get in touch.

Fixed

  • The master fader is remembered between launches instead of resetting to full.
  • Touching the master fader during a fade-out no longer strands a cue mid-fade, still playing.
  • Deleting a board now says how many sounds go with it first.
  • Import is now a labelled button, and new boards get distinct names and colours.

Version 2.1

  • Fixed a bug where sounds could show "UNPLAYABLE" after deleting a board, and wouldn't play until you restarted the app.
  • Fixed layered sounds being cut off when you switched boards.
  • Added anonymous usage and crash reporting so we can fix problems faster. No accounts, no ads, no tracking across other apps.

Version 2.0

Soundboard 2.0 — a complete redesign

A ground-up visual refresh and a much more powerful way to build and run your boards:

  • Brand-new look — a clean, dark interface built for dim rooms and live use, with bigger, easier-to-hit pads.
  • Powerful sound editor — tap and hold any pad to open the new editor: trim the start and end right on the waveform, preview your changes instantly, and set per-sound volume.
  • Play your way — mark a sound as Solo (silences everything else), Loop it, or choose what a second tap does: replay from the top or stop.
  • Manage your boards faster — duplicate a sound, move it to another board, swap its audio with Replace Sound File, and reorder both sounds and boards.
  • Smoother live control — an always-visible transport bar with Stop and a 3-second fade-out, plus reliable background playback so sound keeps going when you leave the app.
  • Import in bulk — add several audio files at once, with durations shown right away.
  • More stable — fixes for crashes and data loss when deleting boards and sounds.

Version 1.4

  • Fixed a crash-on-open bug.
  • Added a new feature to be able to replace the song for a given tile.
  • Added a sample on the first launch so you can hit play straight away!

Version 1.2

  • We've fixed an issue that occurred when using Split View on iPad, where the player indicator and adjustment highlights weren't displaying properly - they now look right again.
  • Also we have optimised performance, so we'll sip your battery a bit more!

Version 1.1

  • We've fixed a crash that happens when trying to play a track after not using the app for a little while. Delete and reimport your tracks if you continue to see the problem, apologies!
